Let’s Build A Sledge

Page_1

After an article was published , some of my chums , decided to fashion up some sledges over the snowy period.

One of the team having lived abroad [ AUS ] for most of here childhood had never sledged before , her first two runs ended up destroying the first two of three sledges OOOps.

So , after some hasty rebuilds in a cottage kitchen, where the kitchen table quickly became the Black & Decker Workbench , it was a case of sledging in the dark by headlamps.

Matron even Sam Spee , the rescue dog liked dancing in the snow.

Then a late supper , supported by Zebra production , home made Kiwi Miner Stout , and a long hard cycle home up hills covered in snow and ice , in bed by 0230 hrs .

knackered.

Return trip day two , this time loaded up with some more ale , some strawberry cider , some ginger beer , some apple and black berry vodka , and some home made flap jack super food bar.

The perfect energy food , all gooey and sticky , ideal to kick start the day.

Just For Ms. Mole et al who consumed and requested the recipe.

Zebra Style High Energy Gooey Flapjacks

These honey-sweetened flapjacks are great for breakfasts on the go. If you’re having them at home, serve them warm with a dollop or Greek or natural yogurt and some fresh fruit. Makes 12 big or 16 smaller flapjacks

200g unsalted butter
200g demerara sugar
200g honey, agave syrup or brown rice syrup
450g muesli or a fruity porridge oat mix.

Lightly butter or oil a 20cm x 30cm (8in x 12in) cake tin, or line it with parchment paper. Put the butter, sugar and honey in a saucepan and heat, stirring occasionally, until the butter has melted and the sugar has dissolved. Add the muesli and mix well.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared cake tin and spread to about 2cm (¾in) thick. Smooth the surface with the back of a spoon. Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 15-20 minutes, until it’s lightly golden around the edges but still slightly soft in the middle. Let cool in the tin, then turn out and cut into squares. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

A second day of pain and a little bit of snow kiting thrown in for good measure by headlamp.

Followed by good home cooked sausage beans and mash , and yet another cycle ride home , I’m feeling the pain today.

A new product I picked up recently in NZ whilst diving, kayaking & fishing was my solar powered cap.

Brief update

Well gradually getting there on this Mac stuff, finally have an office on here of some sort, which finds me just dropping a brief note on here for you readers of blogs.

Finally finished my application for a new job, thanks to some sterling help from Spike & Windy.
Much appreciated.
Along with this project I have decided to overhaul the old DYRMS85 Class website and bring it up to date, so those readers who have photos and stuff hidden away in drawers, please feel free to mail me stuff, no matter how bad the haircuts.
Watch this space for a slicker less cluttered site.
Minimalism but clean and informative.
New member of the kite stables lost it’s cherry today, a Lime Green Pansh Spirit race kite, 5m, which plugs the gap nicely between the 2.5 Rage & 6.5m Pepper.
Initial teething problems of sorting put brake lines etc was followed by no wind or very little wind.
Hey ho us kiters are never happy.
All tomato crop has now been collected and processed away, so until next year, no growing progress photos.
Tweaked all my blueberry bushes into some nice shapes and hopefully it will encourage them to grow evenly.
Added three more raspberry bushes to my five first provided to me for nothing by my lovely web hostess and her hubby, I never realised they provide off shoots that pop up everywhere.
Delivered two trees, that I secretly loathed and eight strawberry plants to another to Mr & Mrs Dukie [yes both of them went there], her father was a teacher there. So they were very happy, it added to the other plants they had off me in the earlier part of the year. I was very jealous of their jalapeno’s which had done amazingly well outside of all places, whereas mine only provided some little seed capsules for sowing next year.
Home made cider doing well, the ASDA Cider is far dryer than the Lidl Variety, but both tasting scrumpy like..

It’s back

Thanks to the lovely Fee , she’s had to resolve this whole sorry affair , I have binned Farce Hosts , absolutely useless in the resolution from start to finish.

I would not recommend them to anyone I know.

I just have to try and get everything up and running and get all my links n stuff back into play.

For some reason or other it’s not showing my themes up and even though it’s the latest version of WordPress on the server , it keeps saying I need to update , so something is not there just yet.

But at least it’s back.

I have emailed some of you re the reopening of Naive Zebra , so who will be the first here , I wonder ?

Bloggar has been configured , so even that works grand.

Things looking up , but I’m sure something will go awry it always does.

Bit of pain downstairs today of all days.

Got to to go back into MetHell today , it’s not the place I miss one iota , it’s some of the people there.

Things on the agenda for me , find a bloody NHS Dentist , I almost fell over when I went to the nearest on to to me to be told that to have 2 Crowns and a filling , wait for it £1130 , that’s almost three months mortgage.

Sadly there is a failing in the NHS over her , the amount of NHS dentists is on the decline if you can find one at all , but that’s a hell of a price to pay for going to the dentist having lost and swallowed your fillings.
