Sage Honey [ for sore throat ]

Pungent sage leaves (Salvia officinalis) contain antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and decongestant properties. The herb that it takes its name from the Latin verb “to save”. Combined with the antibacterial and healing properties of honey, this makes a great soother.

Ingredients

1 large bunch fresh sage leaves

Enough runny honey (buy sage honey if you can) to cover the leaves

Method

1. Wash and dry the sage leaves and place in a small pan with enough honey to cover. Simmer gently for 1 hour. Allow to cool to a temperature you can handle. (Be careful; sugar solutions and honey can become very hot and cause scalding.)

2. Strain the honey into a sterilised jar containing a sprig of sage, if desired.

Use

Take 1 tsp whenever needed to soothe a sore throat. You can also use to sweeten and medicate hot lemon drinks for colds and flu; take 3-4 times a day when needed.

Anti Viral/Antibacterial Cough Syrup

Small Red Onion – chopped very small
5-6 Fat Garlic Cloves- chopped up (not crushed)

Put both into a clean jam jar and add standard table sugar to the same level (i.e. 1 inch of onion/garlic to 1 inch of sugar).

Stir thoroughly and put on the lid. Leave overnight and squeeze out all the syrup.

You’ll get a bizarrely large amount of syrup, which tastes spicy, but not unpleasant.

Take a teaspoon of syrup as many times as you want during the day.

It can shift a cold in just over 24 hours, but you’ll need to continue to take the syrup for the following day too

Good luck!

Loss & Gain

How gutted am I now that It’s not easy being green has ended ?

One of the few things that I would actually try and watch , although maybe not on a TV set , I download it from BBC I Player and play it back at my leisure on the old trusty IPOD.

But then to my surprise something else was advertised.

Grow Your Own Drugs

Again available for download and online viewing {UK} only at this time.

But I have the ability to change them into .MOV[Requires Quicktime ] if anyone is interested overseas.

[The same goes for the It’s not easy being green files, I have them all if anyone requires them.]

It was a really well put together and it’s not all about Hallucinogenics and smoking stuff that changes your mindset, unless it’s a natural feel good vibe.

It educates people about making use of everyday items they can get hold of and stuff they can forage for.

This weeks recipes included.

Syrup of figs for constipation
Goji berry and chicken soup for colds and flu
Hops pillow for insomnia
Kiwi and papaya face mask

The results on the guest were all rather good.

So something I will have to look into.

The recipes can all be found here.

MY chum Mrs Kipling-Davies is going to collect them all for me whilst I am away on Walkabout.
