Loving Garlic

Well it’s not the best time of year in the garden for growing things.

But my little box of garlic arrived today from ‘ The Isle of Wight ‘ today several different variations.

How excited was I, even the delivery man wondered why so many people are having it delivered, thankfully I was here, I half imagined my house mate thinking, mmmm garlic and him cooking it off.
I never realised how many varieties there are and only they will go some way towards organically keeping the bugs n stuff away from the plants when they grow next year.

I bulb of Early Large Purple Wight
I bulb Lautrec Wight
1 bulb Iberian Wight
1 bulb Provence Wight
2 bulbs Solent Wight
2 Cloves Elephant Garlic , I’ve never seen bulbs that big , I clove is almost the same size as a normal bulb.
1 bulb Albigensian Wight
1 bulb Chesnok Wight

So I’ll be alright for garlic next year touch wood, the Provence and Lautrec are already out in their recycled pots, 12 Lautrec cloves and 10 Provence so that’s two beds sorted for bug cleansing.

Apparently the Provence almost matches the Elephant garlic, which ca grow to 7 inches in size and the Lautrec is revered by chef’s in France and it is known as the ‘ ail de cuisine, roughly translated the garlic of kitchens.

The rest will get done in the next couple of days .

That is an awful lot of garlic!! You won’t be troubled by vampires then, will you? (apart from our bloodsucking employers that is..)
