I am so proud! Did I mention that my blog has been reviewed in the Grauniad?

Well that has given me inspiration to start doing something with my pot plants out the back deck – planted my garlic today – I know its just after the shortest day – but does the garlic really know if its planted 14 hrs later? Time will tell.

BWB – Just get them in the ground they love the harsh weather and the colder it gets apparently forces them to swell and split into bulbs from the one clove. Natures very own slug and snail deterrent.

Just chuck the cloves into the ground all around your edges and anywhere you have space, not only will you get a lovely crop of fresh bulbs but the stalks if cut and sniped into a salad or potatoes give a great garlic taste.

BWB – you may get some garlicky tasting stalks if you plant this time of year, but I’m afraid you are 6 months too late to plant garlic!

Matron BWB resides in NZ so is the exact opposite time of year to us so it’s an ideal time to plant them in before winter I believe.
